Okay, today some levity. First off, a spoof that is so great, so completely dead on. And the music is all North By Northwest. When we were in Bratislava, Bob Townson got a call to provide the sheet music for the on-screen musicians to fake to. He didn't know what they were going to do with it, but he provided it.(It is after all Scorsese) I just love this, right down to the chubby conductor, looking confused most of the time. (I'm sure this is just what I must look like to my orchestras!)
And then, a jewel. Dudley Moore, whose technique rivaled most concertizing pianists. This just makes me smile so much.

hey, this is brillant fun ! I guess now studying Beethoven's piano sonatas will never be the same again !
About (this amazing trend of) new recordings of Herrmann's music, what do you think of the new Stromberg / Morgan recordings of Farenheit 451 and Mysterious Island ? Did you have time to listen to them ?
I still dream of a new recording and new performances of his gorgeous masterpiece based on my favorite book of all time, Wuthering Heights, but, is a renewal of this beauty still a dream ?

Hi David,
I've ordered F451 and MI but have not heard them yet. But those guys always do a fantastic job, so I can't wait to hear these records. And that orchestra does a wonderful job as well. I'd love to work with them at some point.
You know, never say never, but I think I'm going to take a breather from Herrmann re-recordings and move onto other composers in need of attention. As much as I'd love to do WH, there are many other scores I want to do as well. And finally, unless I start financing the recordings, Bob Townson has final say over what we do. He knows the market and I have faith in all of his choices.

Hello again,
There's plenty of beautiful music indeed, I remember you mentionned Alex North once, that would be a great choice !His music is both complex (with rich textures, mixing modern classical music and jazz) and lyrical
Funny how sometimes the spirit of his music, although very different, reminded me a little of the beautiful music of Henri Dutilleux
